Greetings!
I recently got back from the 2005 Romance Writers of America conference in Reno. I had a wonderful time catching up with fellow romance writers. I think everyone enjoyed my presentations on the history of pregnancy and childbirth--despite the early hour I didn't see anyone yawning and they laughed and cringed at the right places!
The Beau Monde (RWA’s Regency special interest chapter) conference was also wonderful. Here’s a picture of me (in the middle) with fellow authors Cara King (www.caraking.com) on the left and Regina Scott aka Regan Allen (www.reganallen.com) on the right. My daughters are amazed to see that even big girls still like to play dress-up!
I’ve also recently entered the world of Blogging. (Just months ago I didn’t even know what
blogging was!) Now I’m online, along with fellow authors Laurie Bishop, Megan Frampton, Cara King,
Amanda McCabe and Janet Mullany, chatting about our stories, the creative risks we’ve taken with
them, our research, Jane Austen movies and more. Please visit us at
Risky Regencies!
My biggest news is the release of my first Super Regency, Lady Dearing’s Masquerade. This is a longer, darker and more sensual book than my earlier ones. It was a struggle to write (as my long-suffering critique partners know!) but I truly love these characters. The story has been getting some rave reviews, including a 4 1/2 rating and Top Pick status from Romantic Times Bookclub.
Here are a few snippets:
“Lady Dearing’s Masquerade could have been a dark, depressing story considering its many tragedies: orphaned foundlings, throwaway babies, malicious gossip, years of abuse. But it’s a tribute to Elena Greene that the story is poignant, and the admirable way in which Jeremy and Livvy deal with their trials endears them to readers and will have you rooting for them to unite.” Romantic Times Bookclub
“The characters of this remarkable tale sparkle with sensitivity, wit, humor and a genuine quality that will
make them stand out in readers’ minds long after the last page is turned.”
Edith Morrison, in Romance Reviews Today
Other news: my 2004 release, Saving Lord Verwood, recently won the Desert Rose Golden Quill award. This book also reached the finals of the Holt Medallion and National Readers’ Choice Awards, so my favorite rake did well by me!
Currently, I'm working on several ideas for Regency historical romances, and looking forward to attending the New Jersey Romance Writers’ conference in October. I’ll keep you posted!
Cheers,
Elena :)
