Greetings! After a somewhat disappointing ski season I’m enjoying spring. My daffodils are almost
bloomed out, and I’m looking forward to planting some annuals soon.
Lady Dearing’s Masquerade, my “problem child” of a story, is continuing to make me proud. I just learned that it has hit the finals in the historical romance category of the Phoenix Desert Rose Golden Quill award.
It is also currently up for the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award for Best Regency Romance of 2005. The other really amazing news is Romantic Times has also nominated me for a Career Achievement Award for my Regency romances. I am stunned to be up for an award given to favorite authors like Loretta Chase, Jo Beverley and Mary Balogh (among many others). But it’s up on their website so it must be true!
Both awards will be announced on May 19 at the Romantic Times convention. I wish I could go this year, but I am looking forward to hearing the results.
Now for the sad news. For those who haven’t heard already, the Signet Regency line has officially ended. This means Regency authors are currently searching for new publishing “homes”. Fortunately, the longer and more sensual Regency-set historical romances remain very popular. My books were heading in that direction anyway (Lady Dearing’s Masquerade is not a very “traditional” Regency) and now I am working on the first draft of another longer story. I will keep you posted on its progress!
Meanwhile, I’ve continued to blog with the Risky Regencies, fellow authors who love the Regency era: Amanda McCabe, Cara King, Janet Mullany, Laurie Bishop, Megan Frampton and our newest member, Diane Perkins/Gaston, whose The Marriage Bargain is also up for a Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice award for Best Regency Set Historical romance of 2005.
Check out some of our posts, to learn who is the favorite cinematic Mr. Darcy along with other items of
overwhelming importance.

Until next time, happy reading!
Elena :)
